What is the core mission of your NGO?
To ensure justice, accountability, and systemic reforms in the credit ecosystem while fighting for the rights of individuals and entrepreneurs affected by harsh recovery practices, credit score misuse, and institutional exploitation.
Are you affiliated with any government or political party?
No. We are completely independent, non-political, and not affiliated with any government body or political organization.
What kind of support do you offer to borrowers?
We provide:

Do you offer legal advice to individuals?
While we share legal awareness and campaign for collective justice, we do not offer one-on-one legal consultations. Our focus is on broader systemic change.
Who are the primary beneficiaries?
Entrepreneurs, small business owners, farmers, women, and ordinary citizens who have faced injustice from banks, NBFCs, or credit bureaus due to default, distress, or wrongful reporting.
Why are you fighting against the SARFAESI Act and CICR Act 2005?
Because both laws have become outdated and are frequently misused to harass borrowers. The SARFAESI Act often leads to loss of livelihood and dignity without adequate checks, and the CICR Act allows unchecked power to credit bureaus, affecting millions unjustly.a
What is your stand on credit scores and credit bureaus?
We believe credit scores should not become instruments of discrimination. Current systems lack transparency, are outdated, and marginalize distressed borrowers without offering a fair mechanism for recovery or correction.
How is your NGO different from other legal aid organizations?
We focus exclusively on credit borrower rights, financial ecosystem abuse, and systemic legal reforms. Our approach is research-based, PIL-driven, and citizen-focused.
What types of legal actions are you involved in?
We file Public Interest Litigations (PILs) and represent collective grievances in High Courts and the Supreme Court of India against:
- Arbitrary bank practices
- Misuse of credit score systems
- Financial surveillance
- Public humiliation of defaulters
Do you charge any fees for your services?
No. We are a non-profit organization, and we do not charge for any of our campaigns or advocacy work. Our funding comes from donations and grants.

We do not intervene in individual negotiations. Our work focuses on public legal action and systemic solutions, not personal loan settlements.
Is your work recognized legally or by any regulatory authority?
While we are a civil society body and not a government authority, our legal work is grounded in the Constitution, Right to Privacy, Right to Dignity, and other statutory protections guaranteed to Indian citizens.

Why should donations be made to Suryashakthi Foundation and not directly to Justice for Credit Borrowers?
Justice for Credit Borrowers is a flagship social initiative of Suryashakthi Foundation, a registered non-profit NGO. All official registrations, legal documentation, certifications (including 12A and 80G), and designated bank accounts are held under the name Suryashakthi Foundation.
For this reason, all donations and contributions must be made to “Suryashakthi Foundation.” This ensures legal compliance and enables you to claim applicable tax exemptions.
